Deborah Steiner Spangler, violin
Deborah Spangler is an active freelance musician, and is a regular member of Symphony Silicon Valley, Fremont Symphony, Modesto Symphony, and Oakland East Bay Symphony (for which she is also a member of the Board).
She has also played with the Boston Pops, San Francisco Ballet, San Francisco Opera Tour, Berkeley Symphony, Santa Rosa Symphony, Opera San José, and California Symphony.
She has studied in the Bay Area with William Pynchon (retired from the San Francisco Opera and Symphony), at Boston University with Joseph Silverstein, and at New England Conservatory with Max Hobart (Concert Master and 3rd chair of the Boston Symphony).
I believe anyone can learn an instrument at any age, given motivation, patience, proper training, and encouragement. The joy is in the journey—playing in orchestras and small ensembles--which can be done at any level.
