The Symphony Silicon Valley Chorale, directed by Maestra Elena Sharkova, has become known for its eclectic mix of vibrant programs. It most often performs at the California Theatre, where it accompanies the Symphony in performing major works. The Chorale also performs pieces from the classical and popular repertoire on its own and with guest soloists. Each December the Chorale presents a holiday concert, Carols in the California, that combines traditional and unusual holiday music with a refreshing major work and audience participation.

The Chorale made its formal debut in December 2005 with Rutter’s Gloria, and with the full Symphony Silicon Valley orchestra in March 2006 with Mozart's Requiem, conducted by Maestro George Cleve. In April 2007, the Chorale performed Verdi's Requiem with the Symphony orchestra under Maestro William Boughton. The 2006-07 season also included a fall performance of Chichester Psalms, a holiday program, and a spring program and summer concert tour of Europe which included Misa Criolla along with other songs from the Americas. Chorale performances in 2007-08 included four November performances of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana as part of Ballet San Jose's production in the Center for the Performing Arts; a December holiday concert of Nuestra Navidad along with carols and classics; Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 and Brahms' Shicksalslied (Song of Destiny) in March in performance with the full Symphony; and in May 2008, Rachmaninoff's All-Night Vigil (Vespers), based on Russian folk and liturgical music and performed without accompaniment. In December 2008, the Chorale’s holiday concert featured St. Francis in the Americas: A Caribbean Mass along with the wonderful soloist Michelle Jordan. In the spring semester, the chorale performed Faure's Requiem with Guest Conductor Vance George and Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass with Guest Conductor Jane Glover.

Formerly the San Jose State University Chorale, it first performed with Symphony Silicon Valley in Poulenc's Gloria in December 2004, a concert hailed by the Mercury News as one of 2004's most noteworthy Bay Area musical events. With a history dating from May 1986, the Chorale served as "choir in residence" for the former San José Symphony Orchestra for 15 years. Its highly acclaimed performances included such masterpieces as Beethoven's Missa Solemnis, and Symphony No. 9, Handel's Messiah, Verdi's Requiem, and Orff's Carmina Burana. The Chorale has collaborated with other professional performing arts organizations such as Ballet San Jose Silicon Valley, San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, and Midsummer Mozart Festival, as well as with SJSU musical ensembles including the Concert Choir and Symphony Orchestra. In June 2000, the Chorale toured Europe for the first time, bringing a variety of choral masterpieces from many musical periods, styles and cultures to concert audiences in Sweden, Finland, Estonia and St. Petersburg, Russia. In the summer of 2007, a second European concert tour of Italy and Switzerland included Misa Criolla along with other songs from the Americas.
